  1. Yes, I do believe Hamlet should be considered a hero because he did whatever he had to do to make things the way they should be.Claudius killed his father and Hamlet did what he had to to get rid of him, even though it took longer to do that then it should have. Hamlet was heroic because he truely cared about his mother and didnt want her to be with Claudius. Claudius only cared about himself and was trying to make Hamlets life miserable until he could eventually kill him, which he didnt have the chance to do. Even though Hamlet at times acted somewhat crazy he did it for the better good of his family and that makes him heroic to me.

  2. I don’t think Hamlet could be considered a hero at all, mainly because his need for revenge caused the death of everyone in the play. Hamlets main goal was to kill Claudius to avenge his father’s murder. However he wastes the majority of the play procrastinating, and killing innocent people such as Rosencrantz, Guildenstern and Polonius. Then his crazy actions drive Ophelia mad and she kills herself in a stream. Let’s not forget the dramatic ending either. The queen is accidently killed and Hamlet kills Claudius and Laertes. Hamlet was involvement in all of the murders that I listed above. Therefore I consider the whole tragedy to be Hamlet’s fault. Hamlet doesn’t even get to enjoy getting his revenge because he is killed seconds later.

  3. A hero is one who is brave courageous and puts others before him. A hero is selfless; he always thinks of others first. Although Hamlet starts out putting his father first by wanting to get revenge on King Hamlet's killer, I do not think that Hamlet is the hero of the play. Hamlet's goals turn him into a killer of many innocent people.A hero saves people; he does not kill people. Hamlet in some way or another was responsible for the deaths of Ophelia, Gertrude, Claudius, R and G, and Polonius. Hamlet was trying to save his mother from the murderer Claudius but in doing this he became stuck on bringing down Claudius and he did not care who else he hurt along the way. This is not the way of a hero.Hamlet is selfish. He just sees his purpose and does not care even about his lover, Ophelia. A hero acts with speed and Hamlet just took his time. Hamlet took so much time that he caused lots of tragedy for others around him. Hamlet is definitely not a hero.
