  1. I agree with the quote-“When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.” Ernest Hemingway. What I think Hemingway is trying to say is that by listening to people completely one can easily have an advantage to excel in what he/she belongs. I interpret this quote as that information is important in our lives. An individual who does not pay much attention to what people are saying has a huge possibility to lose key information that might have contributed to his/her well-being. Take my own life as an example. A couple weeks ago, I was not sure whether to take the SAT subject tests or not. In my mind, it was kind of decided that I was going to. But once I heard from the university I figured out that I needed at least one SAT subject test score. So I took the exam just yesterday and it went successful.

  2. 3. “Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell ’em, ‘Certainly I can!’ Then get busy and find out how to do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt

I agree with this quote. Applying this to everyday life is necessary because you can proove to people that you are hardworking giving them a positive impression about you.
I can apply this to my life because at my job, I really had no idea if I was able to tackle working alone. So I blindly walked into it giving it my best and hoped that I could do it. My motivation to doing my best in a situation like this is simply proving to someone that I can do it.

because I believe that when you talk to someone it goes in one ear and out the other. An example is my brohter. If we ask him to do something, he'll agree and hear you, but not follow through with the action. With my friends, I am the "go to" person. I really listen and actually give my advice and imput where I think its needed. When I need someone to talk to, I usually go to my stepmom because theres only a select few who actually will listen. Sometimes thats all you need, for someone just to listen.

  4. 1. “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford
I agree wholeheartedly with this quote. If one tries to build themselves up with a bunch of possibilities, their credibility is corrupted. This is because they try to represent themselves with future possibilities in place of tangible results and real events. If someone lives in the future, the present becomes a shadow of their hopes.
It's much like a presidential election, do we vote for the candidate that tells us his past? Or do we vote on the candidate that tells us fanciful thinking about the future. Going on the last elections results I'd say the later, yet is it really so good to go on promises and hopes for the future instead of success and proof?
It is neither ethical, nor honorable to rely on future endeavors to support your reputation. You need to build up a portfolio of success and failure, one that shows both sides of the fence. This kind of reputation will tell much more in an honest sense about a person.

I agree with this quote because you should never doubt youself or your ability to do whatever you put your mind to. You should not let people think you do not have the potential to succeed in all that you do. If someone asks if you can do something, even if you are not sure if you are able to,you go and figure out a way to do it.

  6. I chose the quote, "Think like a wiseman but communicate in the language of the people." by W.B. Yeats. I wholeheartedly agree with this quote. Even if you have more knowledge than everyone you encounter, you will not be able to share your knowledge with them if you cannot speak to them in a way they will understand. If you are a chemist speaking to a English teacher about something science related, it is not a good idea to use fancy science terms that someone who studies English will not understand. Rather, use a simpler vernacular, one that they use everyday. If you simplify complicated ideas into everyday words, it will be much easier to get your desired point across.

  7. I agree on the quote "You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.”
I agree with this quote because you don't build a reputation on what you will you do, it builds what you have already done. The reputation, whether it is good or bad, is based on what you have done in the past on a consistant basis. You can't build a reputation just by saying what you are going to do because most likely, that won't succeed.

I totally agree with this statement 100% because it happens to me all the time. My mom tells me stuff all the time when she is not home to do but I always end up never doing them. My mom would always come home and she would see that I didn't do what I was supposed to do and she would always ask me if I heard her and if I listened. I usually hear what she says but when she leaves to go I don't listen because I never end up doing what she wants me to do. So I totally agree with this statement because its what I do.

  9. “When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.” Ernest Hemingway
I agree with this because most people will just stand there and not listen to what you have to say, they are just waiting for their turn to talk. Most people seem to be nice and a good listener on the outside, but really they are just selfish and don't care what you have to say. I do this alot of times when i get yelled at or when im getting lectured. Some people dont relize they do, but everyone does it at some point in their life.

  10. 2. “When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.” Ernest Hemingway

I agree with this sentence very much because whenever someone is trying to talk or say something to you or a group you must listen. I agree that most people never listen to someone because they either ask the person the question again or they just keep day dreaming about nothing.
Everyone should always listen to people when they talk because its the right thing to do otherwise you will be very rude to the person doing the talking.

This quote stresses how important it is to work hard. Sometimes you have to do something that you dont know how to do, so you have to push yourself to figgure it out. This teaches you to be hard-working and able to think for yourself.
Last year i used to work in an investigation office. When i started i was the youngest one there. Most of my co-workers had been working there for at least five years. Therefore at times they would talk about things that i didn't learn yet and exspect me to be able to do certain things that i was never taught. It was very frustrating at time, but i always tried my hardest to figggure it out by myself. This was a good experience because i was used to having easy work and this actually pushed me to work hard.

  12. “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford
This statement is very truthful. So many people all the time, in school, outside of school, at home; they say what they are going to do, how they are going to do it, and how its going to feel. They always say how big they are going to make it, but they never take the steps necessary to become sucessful. For example, there is a girl I used to know in grade school who always talked about how great she is going to do this track season. She never works out or trains, but she always is getting new shoes and glasses. She speaks about her reputation she is going to build but she won't reach it. This statement is very true.

  13. “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford I disagree with this quote. Many people in history have built there entire repuation on what they are going to do.One example is when a candidate for any type of governmental position runs for office and promises the people all of these tings and most of them never follow through. Many politicians gain their reputations from the promises they say their going to make. Therefore they earn their reputation on what they are going to do.

  14. I choose the quote “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford. I agree with this quote because to me it means if you are going to do something with meaning or something great people with recognize it and create an opinion based on it. If you make yourself known for doing great charity work then people will see you as a very kind and giving person. One can build a whole image for themselves based on what they are going to do. Another example is if a person makes it known to people that they are rich, said person will look very successful and that is the reputation he is stuck with.

  15. I chose the quote “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” by Henry Ford. an example of that is like a rookie in the NBA saying he's the greatest in the league without even playing a game. You need to prove yourself and make a reputation on what you have done, not what you think you can do. A reputation is also based over time, you cant get a 100 on a test and say your extremely smart, you need to continue to get high grades to give yourself the reputation for being a good student

  16. I chose “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford
I agree with this because you cannot build your reputation on what you say you are going to do. You build your reputation on what you actually do. An example would be if someone ran for office and made a bunch of promises to do all these good things when they are elected. People may think that the would be someone good to vote for based off of what they said, but the candidate could end up being disliked by people when they get voted in, for not doing what they said they would do, or for allowing something bad to happen. They only gain a reputation after they get elected and actually do a good job. You cannot build a reputation by making empty promises.

  17. I chose the quote “Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell ’em, ‘Certainly I can!’ Then get busy and find out how to do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt. I chose this quote because I believe if you put your mind to a job, anyone can conquor anything. This quote means alot to me because it gives me the ability and encourages me to encounter a task eventhough I may always not want to do it.
To me this is a challenge. It encourages people not to doubt anyone because they can put their mind to it and succeed. I agree with Kelly when she mentions that you should never doubt yourself. It means a lot to a person who may not mentally think they can succeed.

  18. “You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford
I agree with that quote because when some college football players are drafted, they might think they are the best. But the NFL is a lot more difficult then college so all the college players that are drafted have to regain their reputation by playing a lot and doing good in the NFL. Another reason is when you are in kid in high school; you have to show others that you need respect no matter what grade you are in at high school level. You have to show what you can do with your life instead of hiding in the back and thinking about what you can do instead of actually doing it.

  19. “When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.” Ernest Hemingway
I agree with this because it simply is true. People really do not listen. It seems as if people just don’t have the time or just don’t care or maybe both. People are too preoccupied with themselves and merely don’t even recognize the fact that they are not the only ones in the world who want to be listened to. One may say they listen or are listening but they really might not be. To listen to someone, no matter the topic, is to fully grasp – or attempt to grasp – the concept of the conversation and to be sincere in this attempt. I myself do try to listen although it is hard sometimes because sometimes you really just don’t care enough about the topic but the idea of not caring is a selfish one because it proves our inability as a people to listen. If we listen we can learn.

  20. “When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen.” Ernest Hemingway

I especially like the above quote because i believe one of my best qualities is listening. I am a good listener and i love to do it. Maybe this is because i am not much of a talker. I completely agree with Ernest Hemingway's above statement. In todays day and age a good majority of people are extremely selfish and do not care about what other people have to say. I think that what Ernest Hemingway is saying in this quote is that if someone confides in you enough to tell you something, listen. Don't just hear them, really listen to them because they deserve at least that much. Even if it as simple as someone making small talk with you, they deserve to have you listen to them at the very least. Small talk may be awkward but it shows that the person who is making small talk with you has enough respect for you that they want to engage you in conversation. Or in simpler terms, maybe they are just being plain old polite. And if a person is being polite to you in making small talk, the least you do is be polite back and listen.

  21. The blog I chose was Think like a wise man but communicate in the language of the people.” – W.B. Yeats because you need to be concise and knowledgeable when you communicate to the people and not only tell them what they want to hear, but the truth. You also don’t want to make them dumbfounded and use a huge vocabulary that they don’t understand. This will make them turn their attention away from what Is being said. Without an understanding of what the people want, you won’t know to change the community for the better.
