  1. I chose “It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what is required.” – Winston Churchill. I agree with this because like sometimes in school we may try our best yet it does not meet what is required from us. Or such as in sports one player may do his best yet the rest of the other teammates may not do their best and they will not be doing what is required to win.
These examples just go to show us that even though you may be doing your best you may not always succeed. So this just goes to show us sometimes you should just listen and just do what it is asked from you to do.

  2. “The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next.” – Matthew Arnold. This quote talks about how people discover and learn new things every day, and how knowledge grows over time.
For example, ages ago people thought the earth was a square. However now we have satellite pictures to prove that the earth is round, and it is common knowledge to everyone. Another example of this is how we discovered that man was able to walk on the moon. No one knew for sure that it was possible until someone actually tried to and succeeded. The generations before us had no clue about something that today we consider to be very basic information.
We still continue to question things about the world around us and discover new things all the time, because of this even the generations after us will consider the things that we do not know for sure today, to just be “common Knowledge.”

I agree with this quote because when people believe that others have very different ideas and views on things, then those things are most likely to be normal a century later. For example when your parents say that different things like musicians making inappropriate music back then was frowned upon, but nowadays it is perfectly normal to hear that kind of music anywhere you go. These ideas support that what seems crazy at the time will probably be popular in the future.

  4. “The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next.” – Matthew Arnold. I agree with this statement because it makes sense and its true. People of the next generation are learning new things everyday. Those new things they are learning may have been the freethinking of earlier ages. Earlier we had a lot of ideas about things around us such as how the world was squared and if we sailed the seas on the eadge we would just fall off the face of the Earth. Now we know that the Earth is a sphere because we have much more technology available to us then we did many years ago. Now we know what is in other countries via satellite images and we are learning more and more about the Earth because of our technology. Since people did not have what we have now, they just thought what they thought and now we learn about what they thought and prove their theories.

  5. “It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what is required.” – Winston Churchill I agree with this quote because people alawys can have desire on something and can be willing to do but sometimes we need to give up something. We cannot do what we want. We sometimes have to give up something to choose what we like to do. When we give up something, we can do our best and also can be happier.

I believe this statement means that even though we might think we are doing our best it may not be our very best. We must do what is required which means even if we don't want to do something, if it has to be done then we must do it and try with our best.
We must always do what is right and we must give it 100%. Everything that we do must be done with our best because if not then you didn't do the requirements.

  7. “It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what is required.” might have meant that when people try to do their best might mean that the only do whats required? Or maybe people want to do their own thing but cant because what their doing doesn't allow it? i don;tunderstand what this blog is asking of me..

  8. “The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next.”
I agree with this quote. An example can be your parents. Their free thinking ended up in bad decisions which they then learned not to do again. Most people base their decisions that they make off of their parents. Some parents try to protect their kids from what they did when they were younger, intittling them to go against their parents. However, this can go on if you dispise your parents. When you were younger you learned what not to do by the examples you set when you were younger. Another example can be your friends. If you see your friends make a decision that you are unsure of, you make sure not to make the mistakes as they did.

  9. "It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what is required.” – Winston Churchill
I would agree with this statement because sometimes in life when you are dealing with your own personal situations, the work you have to expend sometimes isnt your best, but it is what you need to do to get past the situation. For example in wars. The sacrifices of human life are necessary in order for a strive for peace. Capital Punishment on another hand, when a human acts out in such a horrible manner, his life may be in order, or at least it is viewed that way by the state.

  10. “It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what is required.”
I agree with this because in this one movie. I saw a person get in an accidental so the main character tried doing what was required in saving the person but the person died in the process. Another one is when i play football I always try my best in a football game but on some plays I to do what the coach asks so I couldn't do my best on the play but I did what was required.

  11. i chose “It’s not enough that we do our best; sometimes we have to do what is required.” i agree with this because you cant always do what is required you can only do you best. For instance, if you have to to get a load of bricks into a car, but you cant lift them, you can say you did your best and tried but you couldnt meet the requirments.

  12. “The freethinking of one age is the common sense of the next.” –Matthew Arnold
I agree with this statement for many reasons. Many scholars have said over the years that if we don’t learn from our mistakes we will be doomed to repeat them. We as a society try and use what our ancestors taught us and build on that for future inventions. Without Leonardo Da Vinci we wouldn’t have the eventual machines we have today such as airplanes or helicopters. Socrates and Plato influenced many governmental establishments such as our own American constitution. We use our elders ideas and build from them to help just survive and flourish as a species.

I completely agree with this quote, and I try to incorporate it in my daily life. It is an important life lesson each of us needs to learn. I imagine the Winston Churchill was refering to the many brave soldiers during the Normandy invasion on D day. These men, really boys my age, had t5o endure unimaginable conditions, unbelievable fear and who knows what else, and I am sure they each felt they were doing thier very best, until they were asked to do more and they did. Another example of going beyond your best and doing what is needed is Jesus Christ. He did his best preaching the word of his father, but in order to save us he made the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Of course, my personal experience with this quote is not nearly so grand as Winston Churchill would have wanted but it helped me achieve my goal. Last year at the All Catholic cheer competition, we were involved in a stunt off. This is when 4 girls who are bases hold up 1 flyer, the team that lasts the longest wins. I had always done my best at cheer but when it come down to it, my whole team did what was required, no matter how tiered and sore our arms got we did not let up. We won!
