  1. “I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act.”- G.K. Chesterton
I agree with this quote because I have had many experiences in my life that proves this quote to be true. I have missed many opportunities because of my passiveness. Just recently, I had an offering to join the National Honor Society at school. I got all the papers to fill out to join the club, but the deadline already passed, so I thought it was too late to join. However, when I asked the lady in the office about the club, she told me that they actually accepted the papers for a couple more days after the deadline. There I learned that those who do not try to obtain what they want are doomed to fail to get what they want.
I could also find this lesson in the Book called The Millionaire Next Door. In this book compares a lifestyle between wealthy people and relatively poorer people. The shocking fact is that wealthy people are more eager to work than poor people. In this book, poor people are illustrated as more wanting and needing. However, the book also shows that they are generally more lazy, idle, and even extravagant. This fact shows that poor people, with the attitudes stated above, are going to have less chance to succede in life. It is on the same track with quote that people who do not prepare for their upcoming events will miss their chances.

  2. 1. “I do not believe in a fate that falls on men however they act; but I do believe in a fate that falls on them unless they act.”- G.K. Chesterton
This statement bears a strong and crucial message that I strongly agree with. In a nutshell, it is basically saying that there is no such thing as fate, a man controls his own destiny. However, there is a universal fate on men who do not act, that is failure.
We all have potential inside of us. Some of us are better at sports, and others at art. Some can sing, while some can play an instrument. Some are proficient at football and others yet are better at basketball. We all have talents that we can utilize to drive forward into our future, carving a path to greater things. And if we continue on the path of success, we will be led to happiness and a fulfilling life.
On the other hand, some of us may choose to ignore their potential. Wasting away their talents by acting as a passive existence, giving into lethargy and dilapidation. Following this path leads to unhappiness, appointment's, and emptiness.
There are many problems out in the world today; brutal wars, hunger, poverty, vice. If we do nothing things will never change. We will stay on the path of lethargy and passivity and eventually spiral into chaos. But, if we move forward and do everything we can to combat the negative forces in the world today, we can force change in a positive direction and lead the world towards the path of success. Going off of another quote from this blog, the one about the man moving a mountain starts with small pebbles; we don't need to do magnificent feats of charity and heroism to change the world. we just need to get ourselves set on that path of positive change and off of that track of lethargy.
In the end, all it takes is a single action. Some actions are bad, some actions lead to hurt and misery; like deciding to go to war. But there are also positive actions, like deciding to begin peace talks, trying to unify people and achieve understanding. If we all commit positive actions, then we can move into an era of positive change. Let's not make our potential go to waste, because we have no fate unless we choose it.

  3. “I have discovered in life that there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go.” - Langston Hughes
I agree with this quote. There is nothing we can do without strong willingness. A strong willingness makes everything possible so it is important to have certain purpose and faith of purpose. If you have strong will, you will do anything for it eventhough you are in bad circumstance.
There is an example that is showing strong willingness makes things possible. There is a person who only has two fingers each hand. But she is a famous pianist in Korea. She had dream to be a pianist and she believed she can be because she thought having only four fingers wouldn't be a disorder to achieve her dream. Like this two-finger-pianist, if you really want to do something and you have strong will for it, you will finally achieve your dream.
for another instance, strong willingness and its overcome makes your life more valuable. People learn themselves by acheving their dreams with willingness and also, people learn and get impressed from other people's successful lives.
In conclusion, I agree with this quote because if a person has strong willingness to do something and is sure for its purpose, he or she will do anything for it. And phsycal disorder or bad circumstance are nothing if a person's willingness is strong enough.

  4. "I have discovered in life there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go." Langston Hughes. I agree with this quote, because if somebody wants something bad enough they will make sure that it happens. Their determination drives them to not let obstacles stand in their way. When people have goals they really push themselves until they finally reach them.
The first example that came to mind when I read this was my dad because his whole life he always wanted to go skydiving. However he didn’t know of any places where he could go, so he never thought he would actually do it. Eventually my dad researched a place where he could go skydiving. My whole family drove pretty far away to this place so that we could watch him and my sister go skydiving. He said that it was really cool and strange to finally do something he always wanted to do. To this day my dad has gone skydiving twice.

  5. “It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
This statement means exaxtly what it says. What is the point of asking someone to do something for you that you know that you are willing to do yourself. You can't alwyas have the easy way out. Yust because you don't feel like doing it yourself, does't mean you get someone else to do it for you. If your dumb, you can procrastinate and do it at the last minute or you can get in trouble by not doing at all. Even if you do have someone do what you want for you, even that may not end as you have you planned. Even that is not good because you will probably get in trouble for cheating or something because you did not do your own work.

If you keep getting people to do stuff for you will never get anywhere in life. You can't have other people do everything for you because you will not succeed in the future. People won't want to hire you for jobs because you won't have any social skills because you never talk to anyone because you get everyone do things for you. You probably wouldn't get into many colleges because your grades would be terible because you never did anything. If you do your own work, then you can go places.

  6. “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away a few stones.” - William Faulkner
To me, this quote means that to acheive something great, even impossible, you have to start out slow and with "baby steps." You can't just do something like remove a mountain for instance in one try. You have to take each stone one by one and slowly take it apart.

I can relate to this exact quote with an experience of my own. All last winter, I worked on my swing for baseball for the spring season. My instructor told me it would take all of winter to make it happen. I did take me all winter to completely change my swing. He did not fix it in one day. Everytime I went to go workout with him, we worked on a few things at a time, then when winter was over, my swing was fixed.

  7. “I have discovered in life that there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go.” - Langston Hughes

I strongly agree with the above quote. What Langston Hughes is saying, if I were to put in my own words, is that if someone wants to achieve something or do something bad enough then they will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. If they are not willing to do whatever it takes to achieve it, then they do not honestly want it. I honestly believe that hard work can shape good character and always pays off in the end. Hard work is one of the biggest lessons that I have learned from my parents and from growing up in today’s world. You can see proof of the fact that hard work pays off in today’s society, people that work hard and have worked hard all of their lives are almost always the ones that are wealthier and happier than a person who does not work to their full potential and does not apply themselves.

I think a great example of this quote is the movie, “The Blind Side”. In this movie an under-privileged boy is taken in by a wealthy southern family. They only expected him to stay for a couple nights but they could not let him be homeless again so he becomes a part of the family. The family enrolls him in school and encourages him to try out for the football team, he has never played before but they figured he may enjoy it and because of his size he may be good at it. They realize that this young man has an extremely rare talent for football and football could possibly take him far in life. The only thing that is holding the young man back from going to college for football and possibly making a career out of it is his school grades. He has never been enrolled in school before so he can barely read and write and he is a senior in high school. The family provides him with a tutor to help him but other than that the boy passes all of his classes due to his own hard work. His dream was to go to college and play football so he did whatever it took to achieve that goal.

  8. i chose the quote “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away a few stones.” i agree with this because you always have to start somewhere. If you have to build a log cabin, you have to start by cutting down a tree, then moving it to where you want the house, after that you have to cut another tree down and move it also. You keep repeating this step over and over till you have a house. another example is shoveling snow off of your sidewalk. You start by shoveling your way out the door then you keep shoveling, little by little till you are eventually done. the example in the quote is that you start moving rock by rock and if you keep at it you can eventually move a mountain.
You couldn't make a house all at once and you couldn't shovel a drive way all at once. just like you cant move a mountain all at once. So if you want to achieve something big you have to start off small.

  9. “It is not fair to ask of others what you are not willing to do yourself.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
I agree with this statement and I think that all people should keep this thought or idea in the back of their minds at all times. I agree with it because it truly isn’t fair to ask things of other people that you aren’t willing to do. It would be like any person in the world who might be in a position of authority: they delegate responsibilities to their subordinate s which I believe is wrong immorally and simply lazy.
Although I cannot think of a clear instance where this may be the case, I feel that this delegation of responsibilities may only be permitted if the delegator IS willing to execute this action but he or she thinks that it may benefit the person to which these responsibilities are delegated to. Otherwise no person should ever feel as though they should not or so not need to proceed to do something unless the action itself is immoral.

  10. The blog I chose was I have discovered in life that there are ways of getting almost anywhere you want to go, if you really want to go.” - Langston Hughes because it is inspirational. It basically says you can do anything you set your mind to. It motivates us and lets us have hope. As long as your committed to your dream, you can go as far as you want. Anything is possible.
We weren’t born to do everything, but we don’t know our potential until we have tried everything. When we find something we like, we have to work for it, be committed, and do the best we can. We can dream all we want, but nothing will change if you don’t increase your standards and work your hardest.
